Does anyone know if 10A4207 heads will fit on a 5 Star gas? They are available rebuilt and should up my compression ratio, I cannot find the 10A4213 exact replacement available anywhere. The dimensions are the same, but I'm not sure about the bolts and intake/exaust locations. I appreciate any help.

Don`t use 4207 heads unless you are going to use it for pulling only. If you use pump gas you will have the problems that Andy listed.

Brad, I have three 5-Star tractors. My 5-Star parts book does list the "10A4207" heads as a option. They are for the "lp" version. They would be great for a gas too. I had to replace both heads on my diesel. They came off of a M-670. I also have other information on your 5-Star. Just e-mail me if you are interested. Kevin

I would not put 4207's on your 5star unless it is going to be strictly a puller. The are about the highest compression non-diesel head MM made. they work well with LP. The compression will be about 9.8:1 well over 200 psi. You would have to burn aviation fuel in it to prevent pre-ignition. If you burned pump gas could hammer your rods out. you could also have problems with heads lifting.

If you can't find 4213's or 4232's,(same compression with square ports), 4210's would be fine,(and easier to find).

4210 is about 6.95:1 on a 283 engine. $350 is in the ball park for 1 head. Don't throw your old one out, there are some shops that specialize in welding and anealing cracked heads.
