I currently am working on a 62 G706 diesel in school with a Elwood FWA. I just started the tractor for the first time ever since I got it a few months ago. The problem I have is I need to get seals and gaskets for the front axle but have not had any luck. I have contacted Memphis Equipment a week ago but have got gotten a response yet. I am restoring the tractor and would rather not have any leaks on it, but if i can"t get seals, guess I will have to deal with it.

I PUT ALL NEW SEALS, BEARINGS , GASKETS, ETC. IN MY ELWOOD IN 2002 . I WAS ABLE TO PURCHASE EVERYTHING I NEEDED IN KITS FROM CLARK TRUCK PARTS, INC. POCA,WV. PH. 304-755-8811 FAX 304-755-8866 WEBSITE Link . G508 KNUCKLE KITS WERE $30.00 EACH BACK THEN. THE BIG RUBBER RING IS A PISTLE TO GET OVER THE HOUSING WITH OUT BREAKING IT !!!!! ! I WARMED THEM UP IN HOT WATER AND ENDED UP BREAKING THEM. THEY HAVE TO REALLY STRECH TO GO OVER THE HOUSING . JOHN DEERE MECHANIC TOLD ME AFTERWARDS TO USE A JOHN DEERE SOAP/LUBE PRODOCT . I TRIED ALL TYPES OF OILS AND LUBES , BUT STILL BROKE THE RING. MAYBE THE DEERE PRODUCT WILL WORK ???? PRETTY SIMPLE OTHERWISE !! I HOPE CLARK TRUCK PARTS IS STILL OPERATING AND CAN HELP YOU . GOOD LUCK ---DEAN--

I am restoring a ZTN. Every seal was leaking. Welters Farm Supply helped me with most of the seals. There have been several seals I could not find like the hand crank seals and brake shaft seals. I took the ID and OD dimensions and the old seals to a local seal and bearing supply house. In less than 10 minutes, they had on shelf replacements on the counter. Most of the old seals are very standard sizes. The felt seals are harder though. I had to got some felt and cut them out my self. Keep up the good work.

Where did you get felt at if I may ask, in case I need to do the same. Always want to be prepared.

Another place to try is Boyce Equipment. They deal in military truck parts and pieces. They might be able to get the seals you need. Their website is>Link

What>Link is your serial number? Thanks

Jake

I had checked the serial no. on the tractor and it is 24100061. My guess it was build durring late summer. I had the fuel pump apart and that was dated 06/19/62 on a part. the front axle cover plate is stamped with 8-62 also.
