Would like some input on using the bio diesel in the older massey fergusons. Fuel prices are killing me. I would like to see if my Perkins can handle it.

I've read that if bio diesel sits to long "3 or 4 months" it begins to break down and become acidic and start scoring parts it is in contact with "such as parts in your injector pump". Not a problem if your burning a tank of fuel a week but if you are like me who fills up his tractor 2 or 3 times a year this may be a problem.

I havn't heard about it degrading engine oil but I have heard of people buying B100 for parts cleaners, and that older delivery trucks hoses and paint was damaged. That said a person may have to upgrade their systems when ultra low sulfer is all that is avalable for the better lubrication of bio.

Thanks for the heads up. Several local mechanics recommended against using bio in any thing made before 1990. According to them bio degrades seals, gaskets and even causes preliminary break down of egine oil.

Ran bio in my 61 Workbull. Had to replace the o-rings for the injector pump that started to leak after a couple of tanks. I hear bio eats rubber. Took a chance, won't use it again.
