My MF3080 - if left to stand without running for several days clutch hydraulic pressure is lost and it has to bled to bring it back up. If left for over a week, then brake pressure is also lost requiring both the clutch and the brakes to be bled. Has anyone experienced this or have any suggestions as to the cause / cure. Many Thanks.

Thanks for the advice Toolbox. The plan is to split the unit at the end of the season as the engine is breathing heavy (have the choice of a good second hand engine and/or engine rebuild kit both of which I acquired earlier this year)So this would present an opportunity to overhaul the clutch slave cylinder as you suggest. I suppose the axles could be split at the same time as the unit would be 'off the road' so to say. Any chance for future ref that you could forward your e-mail address to mine (remove***** before using)*******derek.rourke@tesco.net***** I'm based in West Wales

Starting with the brakes, the large o-rings on the brake pistons in the rear axels have probably warn flat and when the tractor is standing the oil leaks away, when the tractor is running the master cylinder is topped up all the time. The cure for this is either replace the seals in the axel or on odd occasions I have made up a reservoir to hold more oil at the master cylinder, you will notice it has no reservoir only a clear pipe attached to the master cylinders,
The clutch is probably the slave cylinder seals leaking you will need to split the tractor and replace them or try making a reservoir up for this to.

Further to our last exchange on MF 3080 losing clutch pressure (Sept 05)- the unit has just been split, slave removed and repair kit 3600207M94 ordered. The query I have is that the kit contains 8 items but the slave we removed has only 6 items. The additional two items appear to be Item 20 - O Rings (MF Parts Book Ref)which appear to be for builds after S093039 (by the way how do you identify build ref on the tractor?). Welcome any advice on this as - local MF dealer doesn't have any experience on this model.

Cheers

Derek
