I have an old MH No. 6 mower that hasn't been used for a while. The last iime I used it, I filled the reservoir with oil and it stayed for all of about an hour, needless to say, I need new seals. Anybody out there know anything about changing them? Where can I find new seals and/or gaskets for this old beast!

Thanks in advance to all of the good Massey folks for your help!

Jim

The seals can be bought at virtually any automotive or farm machinery outlet. Just make sure that when you remove the seals you don't throw them out. You will need the manufacturer's part no which is stamped into the seal casing. if you store doesn't have that part number, they can cross reference it to another seal manufacturer. As far as gaskets, the only one you should need would be the big one that goes behind the cover of the chain case. Either make one or use a gasket eliminator product. To change the seals you will have to remove the chain cover at the back, the chain and the lower sprocket. On the front you will have to remove the pitman arm, the pulley guard, pulley, then remove the whold shaft and check for wear on the shaft were the seals ride. Speedi sleeve this area if worn excesively prior to installing a new seal. Hope this info helps
