I have a AR JD and the clutch slipped in it, so i put a new one in and it still sliped at first but then i tightened it up some more to give it harder snap and it doesn't seem to slip at all now, i was just wondering if the top adjustments on the clutch for the forks could maybe be a little bit out of adjustment?.? Thanks for the help

Rman, if the clutch is "snapping" no amount of external adjustment will make it hold better.
~Ones the clutch is adjusted to have the correct clamping pressure you can take the complete pulley off the tractor & move the sleeve with big screw drivers & it will have the same clamping pressure.
~All the fork does is move the sleeve to force the toggles to go over center, once the toggles go over center is when the force is applied to the clutch disks through the dogs & adjusting bolts.
~If you are getting a good snap & the clutch still slips, take a look at the sleeve drive pin & pin hole in the sleeve to make sure it is not wallowed out & oblong. If the sleeve doesn't stay in position, the toggles will not go directly over center but will go sideways as well as over center & will loose some of their lift.
~You could also have wear on the dogs & pivot pin holes in the dogs & pulley ears or wear in the sleeve holes that the toggles go in. Wear on any or all of those parts will limit the clamping load & if the toggles go too far over center the clamping force will be lost after the snap....
