I just got my J.D. 60 running. The governor is stuck on it and there are some parts that are out of it. But i have another one that came off of a working tractor in the back room. I was just wondering how to time it and where are the timing marks? Or would it be better to fix the old one? Thanks.

If you have another one for a 60 that is in good shape (i.e. control sleeve not worn, bearings decent, weights & pins tight, etc.) go ahead & install it & re-connect the live hyd. You can even install the internals in your existing housing w/o removing it from the tractor (if you're careful to remove the oeprating fork from the control shaft)
To time the governor, rotate engine until index mark on cam gear is at 12 o'clock & line up with index mark on governor gear. Make certain distributor is removed when re-assembling.
