Looking at a local John Deere H for Sale. The unit has electric start, hydraulics, PTO, lights, motor is stuck sheetmetal is in good but rusty shape...Question, is the value in Western PA high enough to justify spending $500.00 on the unit and restoring it given it has darn near every factory option? Thanks everyone for your expert input.

The honest answer to your question is no. The value of a JD-H restored is enough to get your investment back, but will not compensate you for labor. If you don't love restoring tractors, it probably makes sense to use your time more productively.

One the other hand, it sure is a good looking machine once restored.

$500 doesn't sound too bad but I would at least see if I could talk them down first. I am restoring a '46 H right now. I think it sounds like a pretty decent deal. Mine has about every option they had and I haven't run into any horrible trouble finding parts. It just takes knowing where to go is what I have found at this point. Good luck.
