I hooked my alt. top wire on alt clip to the key switch when the key is off no 12 volts on that termanal. the key will not know kill the tractor to turn off the engine. I have to short the injector pump wire to stop the engine at the pump.Did the key switch go bad? Thanks for any help!

left terminal goes to stator, right terminal goes to regulator, big terminal goes to bat, switch wire goes to regulator

Oh ...Don't short out that wire...If you have to , snip it and put male and female insulated spade terminals..That solenoid wire carries some amps to it..I don't know if the switch went bad , but they rarely go bad...I'm not so sure I follow what top wire you're referring to..What color wire are you dealing with..This may help in figuring out your problem..And what model 450 are we dealing with ?? Straight 450 , 450-B , 450-C , D,E,???

The dozer is a 450 b.The top wire is on the alt. clip that pluges into the alt. side, one of the wires goes to the big bolt on the behind of the alt. ant the other goes to the key switch I think.
