what are the different variations of wide fronts that fit a JD 520? I have one that has different type of tie rod ends that i haven't seen before. They are like a ball and socket.
Rick

The square wide front I purchased had the earlier style, round wide front end tie rods. From what I heard/read the later tie rods which had the "clamped, slip adjustment" were not as reliable. Problem was that it cost quite a bit to convert back to original. Perhaps a similar "switch-a-roo" has been done on your wide front.

Yes, looks exactly what came with mine. You will need to spend a few dollars to put the newer, correct stuff on. I bought most from Deere ten years ago, not sure if it is still available.

These tie rods are correct for the early square fronts that were put on 50,60,70 tractors and will work fine on your 520. The next change in the tie rods iis the automotive type ends, but the sleece they screw into is welded onto the side of the square rod. This type is what was being sold when your 520 was built, but a dealer could have put on a earlier front end that he had in stock. The late square fronts have the outer tie rod end screwing straight into the outer end of the tie rod. This would have been on the 30 series.

Thanks for the education. Didn't know they had three different tie rod arrangements on the square wide front. I wanted/needed the late or 30 series configuration.
