Does anyone know of a conversion kit that will change the canister type to a spin on type of oil filter for my JD 1010 gas?

1010 Auxiliary Hydraulic Tank in reply to Grant Walker, 11-02-2007 18:22:44
Does anyone have an auxiliary hydraulic tank that came mounted by the seat for a JD 1010?

Or, exhaust manifold that exits down instead of up?

Also, still looking for a spin on type mount for the oil filter.

I'm glad that someone has spoken up about how a properly maintained 1010 is a good little tractor. I like spin-ons, but my 1010 canister uses the same element as my M, so I will still with the old-school approach.

Good luck with the 1010.

Thanks. I have a JD 224T baler and the 39hp PTO works great. It has a front end loader that works fine for the home /utility type stuff. I have a post hole auger, a rear blade, pto hay rake and a tow behind hay stacker and a pto sickle. All of these work well. I have an alternator on it, a Genesis solid state distributor (they converted it) and a magnetic oil filter heater so that it starts every time in order to clear the snow. I will never sell this tractor. I've heard a couple of folks a JD dealerships say that the 1010 wasn't a good tractor because it wasn't heavy duty enough. I don't imagine it was ever designed to handle a 200 to 400 acre farm. For a 5 to 40 acre farm, it is great.

Kit? My 1010 has a spin-on filter with no kit involved.

Thank you Bob. If anyone has one of these style filter mounts please let me know.

Also, there is an auxiliary hydraulic tank that mounts just beside the seat for a JD 1010. It is a discontinued item so if anyone has one of these.

Lastly, there is an exhaust manifold that exits down instead of up on the 1010 Orchard model. It is discontinued and I would like to find one.

This has been a great tractor. One thing to mention. I bought the tractor 15 years ago in boxes. The head looked like it hadn't any oil. I rebuilt it and put a new oil pump in. When I put it back together the valves sounded like they needed further adjustment. About 20 hours later the head burned up again. Upon tearing the motor apart, expecting to find a clogged oil passage, I found that JD did not drill out the casting where oil from the rear of the last cam bearing goes then back into the block and up to the head. I drilled this and it has lots of oil now. The speedometer said 800 hours so, I suspect this had been giving the previous owner(s) trouble ever since 1962. Now it not only runs like a deere but after 45 years, it sounds like one too!

They changed to a spin-on filter at a serial number 042001.

The Deere kit to change over to a spin-on filter is part # AT17925, which has been discontinued. The filter base, # T19041, has been discontinued, as well.

Re: Spin On Oil Filter Conversion Kit JD 1010 or 2010 Gas in reply to Bob, 11-03-2007 10:48:19
I bought the oil filter base at a used tractor parts dealer in PA. The part was #T19041 and it did bolt on and works great. I had to make a gasket due to the gasket not being available, but I plan to get a factory gasket. The oil filter can be bought from Purolator or the NAPA part is #1243. It is great to not have to mess with the cartridges! The part cost me $35.00 and to me it was money well spent as I change the oil and filter quite often. I wish you the best.

Hi,
I have a 2010 gas that I pretty much rebuilt. I recently was wondering if the newer oil filter base T19041 will work on the early series tractors? I bought a base from a used tractor parts dealer and I have not tried it yet mainly because of not having a new gasket. Do you know if I can put the newer filter base on? The bolt pattern seems to be close, but I sure would like to have the spin on type filter.
Thanks!
