Just got an H. What a fun little tractor to drive. Runs very well, has rear wheel weights, shutters. One odd thing is that it doesn't have a PTO. I have to put in a new head gasket, and probably push rod tubes as well, if it sits a few days, the plugs have coolant on them. I was also wondering if JD made different styles of fenders for the H? The fenders don't look like the reproductions I have seen, but in an issue of 2 cylinder I saw an HN with the same fenders as what my H has, I will have to look and see what month/year issue it was in.

Welcome to JD-H World! Take a short trip to the JD-H Restoration Site (Below) for some interesting (I hope) reading on your new Little Johnny.

Good news -- no push rod tubes for the JD-H tractor. Hopefully, a new head gasket will do the trick. One good source for JD-H parts is Heartland Tractor Parts (816) 587-4747 -- ask for Russ.

Before you tear into it though, I would like to suggest you have in hand literature applicable to the H. The Parts Catalog (PC304) can be bought from Ed Tucker or half the going rate (812) 537-4622. Other manuals you need can be found at the JD-H Restoration Site, or you can try John Deere for the OMR2011 Operator's manual. Service Manual -- If you have the JD-4 consolidated shop service manual, it does have the JD-H included. And if not, you can find a JD-H Service Guide (Service manual + tips) at the JD-H Site.

Fenders -- Only one style was ever designed by Deere for the JD-H tractor. I think I have some pictures of the H with the right kind of fenders if you write me. Also, there is a picture of a JD-H fender on the final page of Chapter 1 of the Restoration Guide -- which is accessible to you at the JD-H site. Select the Restoration Guide, and one-click on the Excerpt which includes Ch 1.

I have installed a PTO into two JD-H tractors that did not have one -- so write me for some expanded information if this is what you have in mind. Lots of things involved!

Hey Pat, Thanks for the reply. You can email me at lmyhren@up.net if you could send me a picture of the fenders. (The email is my wifes) I can send you pictures of what I have. I do have acouple of manuals that I received from the previous owner. He kept records of oil changes, filter numbers and how much oil everything holds. Next summer I will start working on it, I have an unstyled B in the garage right now, that I have to get finished. I have never hears of an unstyled H,HN,HNH. Nice pic on your site, in 2 cylinder I saw pictures of an experimental H.
