We are currently switching engines in my uncles 4020 gas. A 404 diesel from a 7700 combine is what we are using and it is all working so far.

wow this is wierd. i went thru this a couple mos. ago. first, do you have a gas or diesel?
the late 6600s have a 404 non-turbo, they will work BUT you may have trouble with the length
(water pump and damper pulley and radiator)
ideally, you need a motor from an early 7700 with the inj. pump at the rear of the motor, not many left. i have been thru this and have two motors 4 sale. i know where there is two of these for
$2,250 and $3,300. leave your email on here if interested.

You have most likley already done your homework, but early 6600 combines had 6329 engines, so make sure you have a 6404 on your hands or you might have a problem. I Wish you the best on getting it done!!!

Make sure that the bolts for the side frame are drilled and tapped. I know that they're not drilled on all combine engines... don't remember on a 6600 specifically. Also, some (most?) combine engines don't have the alignment pins for the main hydraulic pump bracket. You might get away with just using the bolts (make sure the holes are in the block) if you align it carefully.

It will work will need to do a little work to get it in. front dampner pully will need some modification and so will the water pump will also have to grind out a notch in the back of the block for the hydraulic line to fit properly
