I have an MT that I tried welding the head, but without success. I have a friend that has a head from a 40 and I am wondering if the 40 head will fit on the MT?

It will. The 40 head has a little different design to the port to squeeze out a couple more HP. That the resaon difference in part #'s the Duane mentioned.

I sure was hoping that it would fit, no big deal if it didn"t, I could have traded it, but it would have been a 2 hour trip to do so. Thanks so much for the replys!

Rob,
I don't own a Dubuque tractor so sure am no expert, however, the parts catalogs for the MT and 40 show different part numbers for the heads, and the Master Parts Index shows the same head for the M and 320 series, different from the 40 head listed as for that series only.

However, some aftermarket sellers list the same head for the M series and the 40. Perhaps a call to one of them would shed some light. Or someone who has tried it may post here.
