This refers to a previous post about a high school students stuck fly wheel. We determined that he has the older style with the bolts on the inside. Anyone know offhand what size wrench we need to modify to get those bolts out?

Hello, You do not need the special wrench to remove
those flywheel bolts. Use 1/2 drive ratchet,
short extension and 1 1/16 socket. It will not
rotate far enough to click so you have to remove
it and turn socket slightly, reapply, turn, etc.
Re-install the same way. Thanks

The JD flywheel wrench is the only way to get a grip on those nuts. Unless you can make wrench that reaches behind the wheel and then be able to apply som torque. Try to find someone local to borrow one. Or buy one on ebay for around $50.

The parts book calls for a 5/8" nut. It could be anywhere from a 15/16" to 1 1/16". In some applications Deere used a heavy duty nut which could make it either 1" or 1 1/16"
