i went to the deere dealer to get a gearbox seal next to the flywheel. he could only find the old part number and could not cross reference it. would someone that owns and have worked on these machines happen to know the current part # for this seal. it's the later model with the quick tach hitch. thanks.

There is no new # i got one z6573h trom my JD dealer $6.50 this past fall.

If you have the Deere part # try NAPA.they may be able to cross reference it.

You will need gaskets and not all of them are still available. If i remember correctly the one for the upper cover is no longet available. It depends what you run into when you open her up. You may need bearings and I definitely would put all new seals and gaskets in her. That lower shaft comes out the front, the sprocket on the rear serews off, and the flywheel will have to be pressed off the shaft. Mother Deere still has a parts catalog fot the # 5, PC466 (1 Oct 56)
