It's almost impossible to "hammer" sheet metal straight to paint . It is always going to require filler of some type to get it perfect. This is where the patience, practice and experience makes it or breaks it.I've been doing it for over 35 years in the auto field. Get a few books,go to a body shop and observe and then practice. You have got to really "WANT" to do this because it is dirty stinky hard work and it will beat you if you aren't committed to it. Until you get good at it ,spraying a coat af gloss black over it when you think it is good enough is the best way to get it straight. " IF IT LOOKS GOOD IN BLACK< ITS GOOD ENOUGH". Post any other questions you have along the way on the "body and paint" forum, between myself and there are 2 or 3 other quite knowlegable guys that frequent that forum, should be able to answer your questions.LOL

There's a whole body work discussion on this site ("Paint and Body Work" under "Discussion Forums" on left side of page) Those guys have forgotten more than I'll ever learn about fit and finish.

Ricky; Good bodywork is a combination of experience and patience. Not something you learn overnight. One thing that helps me is, after I get a dent hammered out, primered, and sanded, I take a spray can of paint and paint the area I repaired to see how it looks when it has a finished shine on it. If it doesn't suit me I redo it till it shows no signs of repair.

Heat, Hammer, and a little bondo to smooth it all out. Or possibly a dent puller, or weld a bolt on and pull with pliers. Depends on the nature of the dent! I'm sure thers some other good tricks out there...
