I can't get the JD website to work. And it is beyond frustrating for someone who gets around on computers pretty well. I had ordered some cylinder parts for 148 loader to repack pistons and seals on lift and bucket. I got 3 different part #s of 4 each after fully explaining what I needed. I needed the piston packings for 2 lift cylinders and 2 bucket cylinders. I also needed the seals for the rod holders. 2 for the lift and 2 for the bucket cylinders. I also asked for any other parts that go in there such as wiper seals. I got 4 wiper seals all the same size. I dont know for sure if the big lift cylinders have wiper seals or just an o ring. Any help with parts diagrams on these part #s would be great. An exploded view of the cylinders would be super. Everytime I tried to get views up on JD parts it would loop back to a default page with no views.

I got 4 wiper seals...all 4 of which fit on the bucket rams. I only need 2 that size. (part # re24534)

I have 4 of part # r81857. These are the same size/ diameter as the wiper seals so they must fit the bucket rams. And that is it for that size ram. There must be end seals in the rod holder and some type of piston packing. Since they sent 4 does this part # work as both piston packing and rod holder seal?

I also got 4 of part # ah212088. These did come with a bit of a diagram. They are called a kit. They seem to be only the o rings for the rod holder seal on the lift cylinders. I got nothing that looks like piston packings.

I have not been inside JD cylinders. I have repacked big cylinders on schwartz loader. The packings were heavier rubber matterial rather than these plastic discs. Any help would be greatly appreciated before I call this guy back tomorrow since it is after closing.

Just went to the site no problems encountered. Seems to me you would be better off getting the complete rebuild kits instead of the seperate pieces ? Providing your cylinders were never replaced with newer model ones kits are as follows. Lift cyl. AW15058 $39.99 and Bucket cyl. AW16444 $50.00 These should contain all the seals in those cylinders.

As a check to make sure the cylinders were not updated measure the rod OD with a mic or caliper. Yours is listed as 1.50" for bucket cyl. and 1.75" for lift cyl. you should come up with something exactly that or you may have the other style which may be metric ?

I just thought I better add that one of those kits will only do one cyl. so you will need 2 of each number to do it all. I'm pretty sure those numbers are correct as I used to work in parts at a Deere dealership and now am in parts at a GM dealer.So I have done this before. LOL

The part #s suppliued earlier for the whole kit got these guys on the right track. I don't have a micrometer on hand but I am going to get one and measure those cylinders before I try to seal and pack them. I got the circlips off the large and small cylinder and tried driving the rod holders in to expose the other circlip. I was unable to do it. I didnt want to go too far as I need them to run until I get the new packings. Aparently the new style has an internal circlip and once the visible clip is off you can just pull the rod and guide out and off. I wanted to get that rod guide drivin in too see that other circlip to make sure I have the old style.

The vague instructions that came with the guide seals on lift cylinder showed no wiper seal but a wiper o ring with a backup o ring. And the new style showed the internal snap ring. So Not sure.

These guys ordered me the part # kit listed above post x 2 for each cylinder. It seemed to be all inclusive and showed wiper seals for both lift and bucket cyl.

Try to get them to make you some copies of the parts diagrahms. If you can get clear ones they will really help at assembly time to see what order stuff goes in. Or maybe better yet see if you can get a copy of a service type manual if they ever made one ? Maybe the regular owners manual shows a break down ?

I did ask them to make me a copy of the diagram. They were going to e mail it once they got their internet up and running. I do have an owners manual for the loader and it does show a diagram but again not real easy to decipher. I did take a speed square out with an adjustable level square and found that I do have 1.5" and 1.75" rod barrels so Should be ok.

It is something that gives me fits. I seem to be doing something fundamentally wrong. The serial on it is E0148028918W.
