What is the casting or part number on an early styled b clutch housing cover? It is b 2780r on the late styled ones.Mine is a 43 and i cannot make it out.It is something like b1054r.i can only make out the 1 and 4 for sure. This is the 4 bolt assembly that goes onto the reduction gear housing,it also has the pulley brake arm on it.Mine has a lot of wear and I need a better one.I bought a good b2780r off of a 50 but was told later that it will not work.

Per the parts book:

Part # AB3931R was used from SN 96000 to the end of the B production. The casting numbers for this part is B1854R and B2780R

This is more appropriately called the clutch fork bearing housing.

I would say your old worn part is B1854R so the one you bought B2780R should work!

Thank you Jason Z.for your very helpful information.I sure appeciate it.I am new to the hobby and I assumed the person I asked knew what they were talking about. I just went and measured both of them and the bolt centers and they sure look like they will interchange to me.This saves me time and money looking for something I already have.Soon as the weather warms a bit I will find out. Thanks again.

Not a problem! Glad I could help. I am working on a 1940 B SN 81291, if there is anything else I can help with don't hesitate to ask.
