There is a gentlemen in Peru, Illinois (Don KLine) who made some exact replicates. DOnt know for what models he all has but they look identical. Just have to stamp the number in.

You can get a new serial number plate from Deere but it will be a modern plate, not the old original design. Contact your dealer and a check will be run for lost and stolen before a new plate will be issued.

A friend told me yesterday that the thing to do is call a Deere dealer. They will get a new tag made & install it that way it is recorded in the archives. There will be less questions that's it is the right number for the tractor.
I bought a 43GM hand start & 34 D yesterday & the GM tag is steel I can't read the numbers but my son's can I haven't decided wheather to get a new tag or not
