Just had the carb rebuilt on my 60 and can't seem to get it adjusted. Just can't get it close enough to perfect. I had it adjusted to where it would run good but wouldn't put fuel out under a load. But it runs excellent at about 1/4 choke. It just seems too sensitive. I believe there are three adjustment screws. Could someone please tell me what each of these screws are for and how to adjust the carb to the tractor.

You have a fuel delivery problem. The main power valve adjustment as per Bushog is not that critical but try opening it a bit more (CCW as seen from below).

If that doesn't help either the fuel line from the tank is restricted somehow or the carb is gummed up by today's lousy gas. Sometimes you just have to remove the carb and dip it into a good carb cleaner to solve the problem.

The idle jets or an intake leak are not part of your problem.

You may also be running too cold but I have never had this problem with my 60 and it runs pretty cold except in very hot weather.

JayDee,
BushogPapa has given you the nitty gritty - I would add that the fuel level in the bowl should be about even with the bowl gasket (duplex carbs only!), and the initial idle needle settings should be 1 1/2 turns out. These settings (of the three adjustments) should be close enough for your tractor to run properly. There is a process for fine-tuning the idle needles - post back if you need that. If you have to run with the choke partially on with the above settings, I suspect the idle circuits have not been properly cleaned.

The one in the Center of the bottom of the float bowl is the Power adjustment..should be screwed out about 2 1/2 turns....depending on how heavy the load is going to be....you may get by with it only screwed out 1 turn on light loads.. The other 2 are the idle adjustment...one for each cylinder...they adjust the fuel mixture at idle..
