There is a good chance I will be finally getting my dream , a 435 diesel.
But I have to convince the "ball and chain". I have to be able to show her this tractor is a strong performer with the PTO , that I can expect little or no trouble with lots of heavy PTO use.
Can anyone advise me on just how trouble free the PTO is ?.

AS long as you don't let your foot slide off the clutch pedal and start a heavy pto load with a jolt. She should be fine. 33HP from a two stroke two cylinder is less stress than 27HP from a fourstroke two cylinder.

I have never ran a 435,but any other 2 cyl. engine is hard on pto equipment. Not enough cylinders to smooth out the power impulses.

Might be a good thing to sell it on. But I don't think it would be a good idea to buy it so you can work that pto like a dog. There have been many references to the cluster gear blowing in that dubuque (being the same as or close cousin to the late 420/430).

I do have a trans case that was 5 speed and live pto that the cluster blew in it. At best it will only crack the side and bottom - ouch.

Sorry to be the oger during the holiday season. Maybe a bunch of folks will follow up with great praise for the dubuque pto taking punishment.

But I do agree, YOU NEED THAT TRACTOR

I have had a 435 for 3 years and have used the pto for mowing. I would not call it heavy work, but I have never had any problem with it. Since the 435 has the 2 cycle GM diesel, it does not have the impulse problem of a regular JD 2 cylinder, so that is not a problem. I have too agree though that I am not sure that heavy lugging would be good on the gears, but running it without overloading it should be ok. Good Luck
