I would like to thank everyone for the responses I received to my question regarding gas leaking from the carb of my JD 1020. As suggested, I removed the bottom of the carb and adjusted the float. When I removed the bottom of the carb I noticed the float was dropping so low that it allowed the plunger that shuts off the gas flow as the float rises to get a little off center not allowing the float to go back up. Problem is now solved.

Next question. Does anyone know how to change the fan belt? It appears you may have to remove the radiator and I was hoping there was a less complicated way. Thanks for your help.

John

John, changing the fan belt is a chore as stated by the other post. I was able to change it without draining the radiator but you will probably need to loosen the shroud around the fan and radiator. Definitley need to remove the coupler and replace those bushings as well. The coupler can be a bit contrary and you need the extensions and possibly a flex head to get to the nuts. At least your changing it in warm weather. Good luck

Just did the fan belt on my 1020 gas yesterday
you'll have to drain the radiator
I removed the the lower radiator hose to gain access to the clamp on the hydraulic drive shaft. I had to use a 10" extension on my socket wrench and remove one nut, then rotate the engine until the other side of the clamp was accessible. remove the bolt and the second nut ,rotate the engine again, remove the other bolt. both bolts are screwed in and have bolts on them.
I replaced the 4 rubber bushings in the clamp while I had it apart. $6.84 for the bushings(R45822) - $10.45 for the belt(R97758)

I didn't know the tightening torque for the bolts,it would be good to know
