Is the transmision and rear end any different in these two tractors? I know that the 6030 has a turbo charged engine rated at 176 horse power, and the 5020 has a rated horsepower of 141. But was the Rearend and Transmision "Stornger" in the 6030 to carry the extra Horse power?
Or was the Rearend and Transmision already "over built" for the 5020 and really did not need to be redesigned??

The transmission is almost the same, but they use larger bearings in the 6030.

We have two 6030s (row-crop, turbo, duals, synchro, 2-
post ROPS) and I’ve always thought the 6030s were simply the 5020 running gear with the turboed 6531 engine (save for the few that were built with the non-
turbo 6531). Save for a few details, they look almost like the same tractor.

Are you aware that John Deere built a few, naturally aspirated, non-turbocharged 6030 tractors, which were rated at 141hp? The 5020 rear end tolerates the concept of installing a 300hp Detroit Diesel reasonably well, I'd say there was no real difference between the two rear ends. Possibly some minor revisions, you'd need a parts book to be sure!
