Hi There

I have an old JD 2130 which is overheating constantly. the water pump has been replaced and today I repaced the thermostat and still it boils over. Can anyone help? I have flushed the radiator and engine, maybe I have a faulty water pump. Should I see the water flowing fast when I open the radiator cap?

Help !!!

Cheers Rob

It's possible to see some water moving inside the raditor but be aware that there is most often a baffle plate blocking explosive water/steam venting directly onto an 'observer' if the system is drastically overheated. If so, you'll only see a minor amount of movement of water under the hottest conditions anyway.

New thermostat doesn't mean 'good' thermostat, we replaced four and didn't find a good one in the whole bunch on a 4630. They were all slack jawed cold and would not open fully well beyond boiling either. I suspect that we were pulling it too hard which caused the thermostat to spew it's wax guts which left us with ruined thermostats time and again. Sound like your situation?
