Mowing hay today the pto on my 4020 just quit! No loud bang or anything, I was useing the 1000 rpm shaft on a new discbine, after mowing about ten acres it just stopped after I turned and begin a new row. WHY? I pulled the shaft and it is not broken, and I can see the cluch engageing and disengageing when under it, where else can I look? Thanks in advance for any help.

IF YOUR 4020 IS A SYNCRO. AND YOU HAVENT GREASED THE PTO BEARING , YOU SEISED THE PTO BEARING AND BURNED THE FINGERS OFF. REMOVE THE BOTTOM CLUTCH COVER AND YOU WILL SEE THE FINGERS. TRACTOR WILL NEED TO BE SPLIT . THE 4010 HAS THE PINS THAT SHEARED OFF NOT THE 4020. DON

Sounds like you sheared the PTO pin in the front of the transmission. It is about 3 to 4 inchs long and about a 1/8 inch in diameter. You have to split the tractor to fix it.
