Rman, that knock could be anything from a loose piston pin, to a worm piston, to a bearing, to ?
~Does the knock happen at all engine speeds? At all loads? At all engine temperatures? With the clutch in or out? In or out of gear? Does it get worse or better under any conditions? If so what are they?
~Is the knock occuring once per revolution? Or every other revolution?
~Does shorting either plug wire to ground change the noise?
~Remember we can't hear it so you will have to tell us all you can to get a good educated answer...

Now is a good time to go down to the local auto parts store and buy a mechanics stethescope. they're cheap and have a lot of good uses around the house. I sometimes take the sound producer off the end of the hose and feed the hose into the crankcase a little to hear the inside of the crankcase while the engine runs. I've also used it to find water leaks in the water lines in my house like the valve in the comode. ther're good for listening to the bearings on either end of the fan shaft on the john deere A
