I just got my A running and it has a very bad vibration,I was just wandering if anyone could give me some advice as to what might be causing this.It seems to be a side to side vibration, the more throttle you give it the more it shakes. The fan also seems to have alot of free-play in it,at least a couple of inches! Thank you for any input!!

We had a "G" do the same thing last fall. Just take the clutch driver off, rotate the engine until the right piston is at the top of the stroke, install the clutch driver with the heavy side toward the rear of the tractor, or exactly opposite the piston. No problem.

Rob, I agree with the good ol G Man, if the vibration is real bad, theres a chance the flywheel and/or the clutch drive disk are one or both out of time, i.e not on their correct crankshaft splines. Does it have any dots and V marks that you lined up??? Did it have the clutch disk or flywheel off lately???

The usual culprit is the clutch drive disk is off time, cuz they get removed more often than the flywheels. As posted below, the heavy side on each has to be exactly 180 opposite the other. They are both purposely out of balance, but counteract each others when they are 180 apart.

If one cylinder isnt firign, that can cause some vibration also.

Rob check the clutch drive disk and see if the V marks are aligned on clutch disk and crankshaft,if no marks on disk and crankshaft look and see where the heavy side of flywheel is and put the heavy side of dish 180 deg of flywheel heavy side then she will be so smooooth . Gman

Looks like a typo probably meant to say heavy side of "disc"
