I found an old IH dump rake sitting in the weeds at my grandfathers, so knowing me I decided to pull it out and look it over. It appears to be an 8-footer or so on steel wheels. All of the springs are there and in perfect shape. I would say the rake is probably in really good condition except for some rust but the working part of it is perfect. How much would one of these rakes bring? Thanks in advance!!

It all depends on who comes along at the right time. I watch horse drawn items on ebay to get an idea of pricing. I want to buy several pieces of horse drawn equipment to have around the farm for my grandkids to see. Unfortunately, many people buy these pieces and then tear them apart and sell the wheels and seats. Hay rakes generally only sell for $50 to $75. Partly, I suspect because they are rarely close to the person wanting to buy one and, to, there are quite a few of them left. I did buy one for $50 dollars which was in good, not excellent, condition.

It's probably worth more as Yuppie Yard Art than as a functioning tool. Possible exception would be if you could interest someone who still farms with horses.

I've seen 'em go for as much as $500 to the right City Slicker, can't hardly give 'em away around here.

Neighbor paid BIG money for a real nice old Oliver Superior grain drill. Filled the wood boxes with dirt and planted poseys in it. You never would have guessed, but the wood boxes rotted away in a couple years. Imagine that!! Then they paid to have it hauled away and paid a landscaping out fit to plant more poseys where the drill sat. At least the yuppies in the country provide us with entertainment.
