I recently bought a Farmall 39 rollover plow, however, I have never seen one actually work. I was wondering, if you live in the Indiana area and plan on plowing this spring with this plow or one similar to it, if I could come watch. If anyone else has information on this type of plow, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Max, I don't know any more than you about these have never used one. This tractor and plow belongs to a man in New England. He just emailed me the picture of it and I wanted to share it with you.

Max,

The last time I ran a tumble plow was in May of 1963. I remember it 'cause it was a week before I left for the service.

Anyhoo, the plow "should" have two trip ropes attached to two levers. One is to trigger the mechanical lift function to drop and bring the plow in and out of the ground.

The other trip is for the "tumble" function. After you bring the plow out of the ground, make a "hairpin" turn on unplowed ground. As you are coming around this "loop", yank that tumble rope.

By design, that inner carriage will "flop" lengthwise within itself bringing the other opposing two bottoms into play by moving them to the lower position. Back into the furrow going the other way and yank the drop rope.

Neat old plows except the blacksmiths that used to sharpen the lathes are nowhere to be found anymore. :>)

Allen, that is a nice looking plow. Were they all red or was some of it suppose to be blue?
