I just bought a 4400 gehl skid steer with not quite 1600 hrs, its a nice straight machine.
What years did they make this machine, I can't find a serial number plate. What is the lift capacity?
The forward/reverse control is real senesitive, can this be adjusted any?
Any mechalical thing I should watch out for on this machine?

Thanks in advance for your help
Jim

Jim, The 4400 was built for 1973-1977 and avail in
choice of Wisc.30 HP,Ford gas 44 HP,Or Perkins
diesel 44 HP. From The literature the operation
capacity is 1200 lbs( which is 1/2 of the lifting
capacity of 2400. Remember the bucket is part of
that weight. A real good loader. If you have s/n
I can give you a year. The s/n plate is inside one
of the long narrow hinged covers on the rear of the loader upright supports(very back of loader)
Good luck, Chuck

We bought a new 4400 in 1975. The lift is 1000 lbs it will lift more but will tip on it's nose (not good). The sn should be under the back cover on the right, the cover on the left is where you check the hyd oil. We have 3000 hrs. on ours it has served us well, it has a Wisconsion engine that has given us some electrial problems but other than tires it has taken little repairs.
Hope this helps Wayne.
