Farmhand Feed Mill Question

I'm going to be looking at a Farmhand 810. Owners says it is in good working condition, except for a problem with the diamond gear that controls loading/unloading. How serious is this problem? Not familiar with this setup (similar to NH?).

How reliable are Farmhand mills in general? Thanks.

I had the same problem with an old Gehl 65 mill, I took a locking collar from a 3/4 in bearing, or what ever the size of the shaft is, and used it to hold the bevel gears up tight, worked good.

Is that diamond gear something that kicks the hammermill out for unloading? might be someting you could fix. I run an old old Farmhand that has ground thousands of tons and is still reliable. The big thing is they need to be stored inside or they will rust out. I'd never buy one that had been left outside.

Thanks for the reply. I looked at the feed mill today. The diamond gears turned out to be the two bevel gears that run the loading auger and unloading auger. For whatever reason, the bevel gears are dropping down on their vertical shafts, causing the teeth to skip, etc. It's hard to tell what held up the gears to begin with, but it looks like a repair might not be too bad.
