Ive got 10 yr old Polaris 4 wheeler that I use for various jobs. Lately it isnt getting gas when theres plenty of gas in it. The dial that says Res and off seems to be goofy, can I bypass this valve ? cant seem to get it in the proper position so the gas is flowing. Thanks Lou

I had a '96 Xplorer 400 and the petcock was goofy on that too. I never did figure out where reserve was. The pointy side of the dial should point to what you want right? Wrong! Just kept it full as possible.

There is an inline filter on there. The side covers can literally be ripped off (almost fainted when the dealer showed me that!) You could probably get away with something from Fleet Farm or an auto store. Also, that tank should be vented thru a hose under the triples (handlebar clamps). Check that by opening the gas cap and running gas out. If so, clear that breather line out.

Hope that helps!

They make kits for them are you sure fuel filter is not needing replaced ? Also there could be a plugged screen inside tank also .

i don't see why you couldn't pull the valve and install another that would have the same thread pitch.. or if it is too specialized.. just add an on/off tap, and remember that when it is empty.. it is empty..

You could also remove and clean it and see if it is simple to repair.. or replace with oem. knowing polaris.. it's probably a 100$ item!
