I am looking for a tractor powered corn sheller, that can shell alot of ears out of a wagon fast, an older style(like pre 60's) doesn't matter what brand, in reasonable conditon, and at a reasonable price. Thanks.

i used to use a john deere pto.sheller. cant remember the number, but sold it. if i was going to do it again,i would get an old 2 row self propelled cobine and take off the head and fix a box to shovel corn into. it seemed the sheller would break down on a whim. for a little more than what you would pay for a pto sheller you can get a usable combine with both heads and for be able to combine your beans ,wheat, oats or some corn if you have drying facilities ,or wait till late in the year when it dries down as much as you feel comfortable with before shelling and hauling to the grain terminal. and like i said fix a box on the front that you can shovel the ear corn into to shell out of the crib. just keep the cobs and chaff pulled away from the back of the combine and be carefull around the feeder housing where you will be shoveling the corn into. i saw a article on a farmer shelling out of the crib this way in farm show magazine! good luck!or maybe you can get a neighbor with a combine to do it and save the cost of the combine.

I've seen combines rigged up that way, with an auger in back to move the cobs away, and a MM/JD drag hooked onto the feeder house to pull corn in. I sure wouldn't want to shovel it in! Work, & a lot of spray coming back at you....

I'd get a MM D (or if you really want to shovel fast, E / 1200). They sell for about $200 in pretty good shape around southern MN, with drag. We put 1500 bu or so through ours per year, & in 25 years or so put on 2 belts, 1 chain, & welded in some gear teeth we stupidly busted out. Not bad for repairs. My uncle ran his with corn picked out of the field, 20% moisture or so & it did a good job shelling.

The model D was made for years & years, in several configurations. Most I see are pto drive, but they all have the stub shaft in back for belt drive. I've seen 2 I think that had the pully on & no pto drive up front. I believe if you found the parts, it would be easy to convert between the options.

They also had a direct engine drive (I never even looked, I imagine through a clutch on the pto drive shaft?) that would mount on a truck bed, for those that did custom shelling.

There were also several types of clean grain chute from the vertical elevator. I've seen just an angled chute; a chain driven cross auger up top; and the best, a v-belt driven swivel cross auger up top. (No slip clutch on this puppy - in a dew, we stripped the bevel gear on ours...)

There used to be a custom sheller around here that used a MM D mounted on a Chevy truck. My grandfather used to talk about it. Was powered by a 6 cyl. MM engine mounted behind the truck cab.

We used to rent a Haban sheller from a neighbor . . . but they recently went out of business, so parts?
It worked well, but you had to keep it full or it would start to crack kernels (I still don't understand why . . . ) We used to set up a drag conveyor from the crib to the hopper, much easier to shovel and keep the sheller cage full that way . . . . That thing would keep two guys with scoops huffing and puffing.
