I never seem to have good luck on the CASE board with 30 series questions, so I figure I'd try here, seeing how many 1030's and 930's were used in the wheat country. I have a 1030 with a blown crank balancer pulley that I need to replace. Do I need it? I see a guy has a solid crank pulley listed on eBay from a 930 diesel, will it interchange? I just have a hard time spending $450+ to have mine rebuilt, and junk yards can't guarantee the one they have is good and will fit. I don't want to snap the crank either, but it does have 7 main bearings.

Tom, the cranks do come up in the parts books, they are under camshafts. I think I an going to buy the 930 pulley and try it out. I can't see any reason why the 930 has a solid pulley and the 1030 has a rubber damper, as well as a 1200. I can't remember ever seeing a 930 around here with a busted crank either.

I can offer you my experience, I am sure there are others who could answer better but here goes. I have a 1030 that I bought with a bad crank. The only crank I could find was out of a 930 and from what I can find out they are the same part#. Now for the pulley on the end. The timing gear on the 1030 is different than the 930, the 1030 is a smidge thicker I used the balancer from my 1030 on the 930 crank and it fit perfectly. I would assume the pulley from the 930 would fit the 1030 crank but you will have to be carefull with the clearance between the inside of the pulley and the timing cover. I am not sure if using a pulley instead of a balancer will cause problems or not but I think it will fit the shaft.

Call Tom Stanley at (307) 682-6203. He's an Ex Case dealer and knows the stuff pretty well. Tell him I referred you. I tried looking up part numbers online, but they don't show 930 crankshafts. It appears that that page has been deleted
