Quite strange i gota say, but better than rotting in fence row, or making toaster ovens in china.

Ya ya i know, nutsaboutcombines, you think i should be burnt at the stake for derbying combines. At least when we have our local derby, we put on a "show" at our local tractor show that brings in money to help draw people to our show, hence producing money to make the club go on, PRESERVING THESE OLD MACHINES AND THE LIKE. I know, i know, you will never agree. 4020LP, i guess i am one of those slack jawed slobbering.....you called "us" or whatever it was anyhow.

Don't condemn the man until you've counted the scars on his hands. He might be getting even. Most of those machines have nowhere to go but UP, he's just heading them in the right direction.

...when some people get old, they tend to lose it. I heard a shrink say that some people feel that when they are retired, no longer have children at the home, will look for something to do even if it's silly or nonsensical. That way, according tp the shrink, in their mind, they're still doing something, however retarded. This guy planting the combines fits the bill. I'll give you two more examples I know about. My grandpa retires from farming and after a few years suddenly decides to cut down every single tree in the entire yard, pecans, sycamores and all! Absolutely no reason to do it. Another retired farmer has beautiful place inside pecan orchard. Decides suddenly that three largers trees in the yard, after standing nealry a hundred years (5 feet in diamter across the trunk), thinks the trees are suddenly a menace to fall on the house. Cuts 'em down...unreal...

i don't know what's worse cutting them up and selling steel to chinse or burying them in the back yard. would be better used to make more beer cans after all al gore says we have global warming going on. we could use some of that this weekend to get colder than well diggers ----- --

Cutting them apart is better, yes. This other is just pointless.

Better than the mindless destruction of combines in demo derbys so that slack-jawed drooling idiots can watch history being destroyed.

Well heck, why do that to those poor combines? He needs to build a shed, house them [the bines are donated] and charge a fee for people to just enjoy a decent museum.

My two year old thought it was pretty cool! I would guess there are plenty of combines to go around to plant a few.

What a shame, most of those looked like nice rust free machines.
