This is what happens when you don't clean your windows before road transport and you are crossing train tracks. The operator was looking into the sun after taking off soybeans all morning and didn't see the train coming. Luckily he was not injured and had insurance. It was the first year he owned it and it has under 500 hours on it while it's sitting there. Sad.

This is the first time i"ve ever heard of such a thing.I used to have to cross railroad tracks with a wd allis and implements but could sense the train coming even whn i couldnt see or hear it.But could see how with the engine at full throttle and the sunlight could easily blind you. some days it is almost impossible to see because of the sun.

Oh yeah, everyone was lucky that there wasn't any injuries. The locomotives around here only run 20-25mph I'd say by my calibrated eye. It just clipped the back of the thing but sent the operator for a heck of a spin.

I am a locomotive engineer. I am surprised there is that much left of it. I would guess it got hit from the other side. I would also guess the train was not going full speed. If the train had been running 50 or 60 mph there wouldn't be much more than a wadded up ball of steel left. Not to mention a train crew hoping something doesn't come through the windows at them or the engine derails. They are all lucky.

That's really amusing, coming from someone who seems to think that combines should end their lives in demo derbies to entertain the yokels.

Doesn't sound so sad to me. The guy is lucky to be alive, much less not injured. What a way to make one re-evaluate life's priorities.
