My neighbor brought his 4760 JD over this morning and pulled my 1420 IH out..It took 3 hooks at a 45 degree angle to get it out.We used a truck tire between two chains and didnt jerk it.We had dug out in front of the wheels, etc.Once we got the right side tire up it came right out..

I have pulled out combines nearly 200 times in 48 years this way with no damage. The first one I ever pulled out was a 123 IH back in 1959 when I was 10 years old.I was on Dads 8N Ford.Believe it or not the 8N always pulled out the old 123.

Most combines that get pulled in two are being pulled straight back by a huge tractor or crawler with lots of traction. They also have never dug around the combine.

Got the wheat finished up a few minutes ago.It looks like it made 18 BPA.Yesterday just to the south and west of us they got a 1-3" rain.It cant rain for a week or we wont get any doublecrop beans out.

Be carefull with that right angle stuff. We dropped a 7700 RWA through the frost and when we pulled it with a tractor (1570 case) the final drive housing snapped. Make sure the wheel you use for the pivot is spinning as this will keep the stress off.

Pulling out at an angle is right on blaine. We learned that from a custom cutter years ago. Seems to come out a lot easier also. Gettin stuck in the first place is always the culprit. LOL.

Blaine, I seriously doubt that any of those combines broken up during a straight-out pull, were fastened onto by their front axles, either.

I agree. In 34 years, I've heard of at least 3 or 4 such happenings. Just STUPID!
