Just an interesting story, and a quick question; being an antique tractoe nut, I try to keep myself semi-knowledgable about tractors and to some extent implements. Combines have not been an area of study, so my combine IQ is low. I was driving through Breesport, NY today when I saw an older self-propelled combine under a large pole pavillion, I pulled over and saw that it was a M H Model 92, and that it was not only in great shape, but appeared to be completely original, decals and all. When was this manufactured, and were they common? Thanx, Pete

The 92 MH SP combine was built from 1957-1959 and the Super 92 MH from 1960-1963.You saw lots of them out in the Kansas wheat country. Our area in West Missouri had mostly the smaller 82 and 72 MH SP combines. My dad ran a 1959 72 MH from 1962 to 1966.The 92 and 82 were a better machine than the 72.

Thanks for the info! Very interesting. It is in such good condition that it is a real eye catcher.

pete it was probly the greatest self=propeled combine to ever roll in to a field,as a kid i use to stand on the prarrie in north dakota and watch truck after truck load of them moving north with the custom cutter,s,it was raere to see a international or john deere at that time.have a couzin in north dakota that still runs 2 super 92,s.

Jakee,

Would you see many Gleaners, I heard they used a lot of them on the wheat harvests, too? I'm from corn country. Would like to have seen the wheat harvest then.

Jim

jim the only odd one i use to remember was 1 cutter ran mm-combines i think he had 4 of them.with there round tanks and the color they kind of stode out.jim remember massy was user friendly there combines were easy to transport on trucks.they use to have a frame over the cab on the truck and sat the header on that.there wetre a lot of cockshutt combines in the dakotas and were real good machines, remember most of the dakota wheat was windrowed also,so the old pull types were all over the place,a machine that takes only wheat down lastes a lot longer,we did over 500acers witha 12-a john deere and farmall m tractor, back then wen you worked in the spring the plow went behind the tractor then a culipacker then the drill , they were called pony drills, and it was a one shot operation.

jakee, thanks for the info, it appeared that the owner may still use the machine, as it would be hard to maintain it's condition without either lot's of upkeep or careful use. It was used, but original in beautiful condition, but not restored. thanks, Pete
