Hello

I just purchased an old Hahn-Eclipse snow-blower and am trying to find out more information on it. I am unable to find any reference to the manufacturer anywhere.

The engine is a Tecumseh 6hp dated circa 1978.

Does the company exist in any shape anymore (i.e bought out?)

Any helpful pointers would be greatly appreciated.
Tony W.

I was just given a Hahn-Eclipse snow blower, series 7532 model UH-586-8 with an 8 hp Tecumseh engine. I"d really like to get my hands on an owner"s manual and parts list, any info at all. If you can help, email me directly: sun49dog@excite.com

Good luck, all.

Hi Tony: Another participant, Jeff, need a manual. I have the operator's and parts manual for model #584-6 which is powered by a 6 HP Tecumseh. If you have a model 584, I would also be happy to photocopy my book and mail it to you. If I have the manual you need, please e mail your mailing address to me at: boote@mail.com
If your machine is a 584 and powered by a Tecumseh, would you be kind enough to look at the engine and see if the model number can still be seen. While I have the above described manuals, I do not have the separate engine book. My manual indicates that PH 584-6 is powered by a 6 HP Tecumseh. Thank you.
Ward Boote
PS: The drive belt for the 584 is Dayco "Top Cog" #15335

Hello Ward. I am about to inherit a Hahn-Eclipse Snow Giant and I understand you may have a parts and operators manual available for a PH 584-6. The machine I am getting is a Series 7523, Model CHD 584-7, S/N 0625986. Do you think the manuals you have will cover the machine I am getting? Please let me know. If so, I would greatly appreciate a photocopy - especially the parts manual. If you e-mail me your address I'll send you a couple of bucks to cover postage, paper, etc plus my address. My e-mail is mwpiela@aol.com. Thanks in advance for your help.

Mike P.

Your Hahn-Eclipse snowblower is probably painted yellow with a white engine. It was manufactured in Evansville, Indiana by the Hahn-Eclipse company. Their snowblowers were sold under the model name "Snow Giant". === The Hahn company bought out the old Eclipse Mower Company, and manufactured under the Hahn-Eclipse brand. Later, they just used the Hahn name. === Hahn sold to the Gravely company (late 70's I think). Gravely manufactured Hahn mowers for a few years, then let the line die out. === Some parts are still floating around at old dealers, but Hahn parts were discontinued by Gravely many years ago.

I have an old Snow Giant snowblower. I'm looking for dealers or private individuals that would still sell parts. If anyone can help it would really be appreciated. Hate to get rid of it because it was my grandfather's snowblower.

I, too, have a Hahn Eclipse Snow Giant Model 586 which I hate to get rid of but it needs some work. I would like to find a person to talk to about my machine and how to fix it. It runs fine but probably needs new rings - does not throw that wet, heavy snow which we have had a lot of here in Michigan this year. Let's talk!

I also run a Hahn-Eclipse " Snow Giant " up here in the NorthEast it gets a work out. Though it is next to impossible to get parts for the Blower itself, the Engine is a Briggs and they still have parts all over. Take the vin number to any Briggs dealer and they can hook you up. as for the rest of the Machine, its all about retro fitting new parts. My brother and I just got done retro fitting a set of heavy duty axle bearings on mine, and it works better than new, and there a heck of a lot stronger. Goodluck with your machine, and feel free to write with any questions, I cantry to help. WilliamsStyle@webtv.net

I too have a Hahn Snow Giant in need of "retrofitting". Just today, I accidentally broke off the plastic "fan clutch hand lever".
I was warned not to do that by a small-engine mechanic when I first bought the thing. He told me noone carried them and matching up to a newer type would be difficult. Well, I've done it!!
Any thoughts on how to repair it?
Dale

If anyone finds a outlet for HAHN ECLIPSE parts please let me know. I have a model 584 and need the clutch which drives the sprocket to turn the first stage of the blower. When it gets wet it stops turning. I must say when working properly this thing realy blows snow!

Hi Joe:

I have a model IH-585-5 Snow Giant which is in need of replacement wheels/tires. I am guessing that original replacements are hard or near impossible to come by. I have considered replacing the wheels with pneumatic tires and new rims but I wanted to make sure that original replacements are not available. Any help you can offer is appreciated.

Regards,

Brian Hayward

I need a manual or a copy of a manual for a Hahn eclipse model 584-6. Also would like to know if there is a easy way to change the belts.

Jess: I replied to you once, can't see that it got posted. I have the operator's and parts manual for Model PH 584-6, this is the complete model number per my book. (This carries a 6 HP Tecumseh) I do not have the separate engine book.
I would be happy to photocopy the manual for you, please send a mailing address to: boote@mail.com
Another participant, Tony, may be looking for the same manual. (assuming he still has the machine)
The belt is Dayco "Top Cog" # 15335.
Now peraps you can do me a favor: If your machine has a 6 HP Tecumseh, could you see if the engine ID label is still attached and let me have the model number of the engine. Thank you.
Ward

I have owned a Hahn Eclipse Series 7524 Model CH588-7 since the early 1980's. I have the original manual and parts breakdown if anyone needs a copy. I just don't know where to get parts. I replaced the entire block in the mid 1990's and she runs like a champ - but the friction plate no longer turns the transmission. Anyone know how to solve this problem?

Capt. Q: My best guess is that the rubber on the edge of your friction wheel has seen its better days. The outer edge turns the friction plate and sets the machine into motion. While you will probably not be able to get another Hahn Eclipse rubber part, you might be able to get one made by another manufacturer that would work. You might want to try to disassemble the wheel, remove the rubber and take it to a shop to see if they have something similar. The outside diameter of the rubber part is generally about the same. (per what I read some time ago) My reply assumes that nothing is broken in your drive assembly.
