i got a old homelite chainsaw an the engine is locked up does anyone have a sujestion on how to free it up

I freed up one with ATF in the cylinder. Had it for years and never pulled the engine apart. Hal

"jb puller" is right about that might be the problem.My son gave me one said it was blowed up, it was locked tight. I just figured he ran the wrong gas. and I might use it for parts,layed on shelf for a yr.or so Gave it to a neighbor, he had it running in 20 min. [stick in flywheel]. That's all for this episode of "dumb and dumber"

Take the plug out and check that the cylinder isn't filled with oil.

If the engines truly "locked up" from siezure, you're going to need a new jug and piston. Probably not worth fixing. Make sure it's actually locked up and not something stupid like a stick in the flywheel or something.
