Service manual calls for 20 degres BTDC. Time to S mark on flywheel with timeing light. The mark will not show up in the hole in the flywheel cover useing the timeing light. Also gives a range of .017" to .024" for point gap. What is the best point gap? The S timeing mark is on the flywheel just will not show up with the light.
Thanks for any help.
Ted

I set my K301's to .020 initially, then use the timing light. You'll be amazed at how much better it runs. Sometimes with the timing dead nuts on, the point gap will be down to .015. So go through the trouble to find the timing marks, then mark them...I use White Out. End of problem.

The Timing Marks "ARE" there. You may have to polish the end of the flywheel with some sandpaper. But the indentations are there. Once you uncover therm, you have want to highlight the marks with something like white or yellow paint so they easily standout.

There is no generic "one size fits all best point gap".

The point gap determines the timing.

Larger gap = earlier timing.

Smaller gap = later timing.

In other words, you get the timing mark to where it's supposed to be by messing with the point gap.
