I have two ford hydro rear ends from LGT 145 garden tractors and was thinking about making a articulating four wheel drive graden tractor with them. Does anybody have any suggestion on connecting them up so it will work right. Both rear ends have the pump in them with high and low gears.

all I know is that a freind of mine made one, has dual wheels on all 4's hindged in middle by a virtical mounted U shaped bracket on front drive, with 1" pin 4" long. He droped to the top of rear drive with a pipe [that a pin would fit through]and angle iron,[kinda like a tow bar]. he used drag link, and pitman arm off an old ford pickup to make the units pivot , left the flat seat mount style fenders on it. with front axel removed it looks like a little uklid. ..... ..... ..... .... #1 downfall is no power steering, #2 I was going to build one, but these guys are right about technical stuff. I am not trying to discourage you,as I know it will work.[I did give up on mine].At the same time I hope you have some ideas from this on the basic build. GOOD LUCK !!! And one thing for shure, Most all these guys on this sight knows, or knows someone that will help you.

Start by taking a course in hydraulic engineering.

If you think that what you are proposing is a simple task, then think again. There are steering issues to solve, hinging issues to solve and hydraulic flow rates to solve. The fact that you are even asking this question, demonstrates that you are over your head on this project.

Sorry.... but that's the way I see it.
