I'm selling an electric lift for a friend of mine. He said it was bench tested and worked the last time he was aware. Before I put it on ebay I decided to bench test it myself. Put the juice to it but nothing. I pulled just motor off and apart, cleaned up the commutator and the brush assembly. I also cleaned up the little contact that looks like a set of points. I would like know what purpose this little contact serves if anyone knows. I put it back together and the motor works fine out of the housing but, back in the housing the shaft will not go in or out. Does anyone have a diagram to share for this electric lifts. I think I will have to clean it the inside and I hear it can be a bear. The email address is elton51@aol.com Thanks, Jack

The contact is probably a "limit switch", POSSIBLY a circuit breaker.

There's 2 wires coming out of the linear actuator, right?

Put power to one wire, and the ground to the other, and it should move in or out. Reverse the polarity of the power to the two wires, and it should move the opposite way.

Bob, Thanks for the info so far. Do you have any instructions or diagrams on how to take this thing apart? Thanks, Jack

Probably not a good idea to take it apart other than taking the motor off.I had one that the motor
worked fine on but wouldn't lift the snowblower
took it apart never did find all the little balls.
If you take the motor off, you should be able to turn the piece inside and see if the rest works.
