how old is my hi-vac

I have a 8hp hi-vac rear engine model#280865-ser#93055803 is there a way to look up the year it was made thanks cdv

Kent,

That's the unit model and serial numbers not the engine numbers.

Model as follows; 2806 the five is a letter S.....

28= deck size....08= HP engine....6= Machine series....S= Electric start.

We were a dealer years ago but I don't remember the serial number code break-down.

A 28 cid B&S engine IS NOT an 8 HP. A 19 cid engine is the 8 hp so I do not think this is the OEM engine.

The first two digits of the engine serial number denote the year the engine was built if it's the original engine for that unit.
