The 8 horse engine in my Huffy went kupuki needing a ring job and blowing smoke EVERYWHERE and I dont want to do a ring jobber on er', not to mention i have an old snapper thet runs great and cuts too small, so I took the engine out and its ready to go in the huffy. Thing is, I decided to part out the one that was in the huffy. The shroud, the carb, the muffler, the head, the mag are out, but I need to know how to remove the flywheel, and the piston. In a related matter, anyone want any CHEAP briggs parts out of a 78 1 cylender engine???? Thanks for your help. Not trying to make money here, just get my $40 back and a little for my time.

Loosen the flywheel nut/bolt or starter clutch then smack the PTO end (where the pulley was) with a brass hammer, It will pop right loose.

Remove the sump (oil pan) then remove the connecting rod screws, Push the rod up into the cylinder until the piston comes out the top.
