On the subject of batteries, I was cutting grass with a Craftsman 20 hp Koehler when the mower deck stopped. I thought that a belt broke so I took it back to the garage. I shut it off and found that the belts were fine but I could not start the tractor again. It acted as if the starter or solenoid was bad. To make a long story short, the four year old Carcraft battery went bad and caused the electric clutch, which operates the engine pulley to disengage. For a while I thought it was a bad starter or some other electrical problem. A new battery solved the problem.

If you have an AUTO-ZONE store near you buy there best L/G Battery which has 425 Cranking Amps. Depending on sales tax the will cost around $35.00. This is the ONLY L/G Battery I use as they are lasting 4 to 5 year and I Do Not remove them from the equipment in the winter.

When I finish with my mowers with electric start I bring the batteries inside so they don't freeze.
I use a full size car battery in my garden tractor and I don't remove it since I use it in the winter for snow removal. It has been in there for over 5 years and it's Walmart's best battery. The mowers and tiller have motorcycle
batteries. I never had one of those garden tractor battery's to last very long. Hal
