Trying to find the value of an old (mid-60s) Gravley 5260. It seems to run well although the owner did indicate that it needs a new transmission gasket. Generally I hear that most/all gravleys will last forever with proper maintenance. I just need an idea what I should offer for the unit. The only attachment is the front mounted mower for heavy/thick cutting.
Thanks, Bill

Bill,

Actually if it is indeed a 5260 that is a late 70's to early 80's model. When I go to look at one I try to get a feel for the seller's attitude. Are they just trying to get rid of it or are they selling because they had trouble with it. I usually start off by offering $300-400 dollars depending on the condition and how well it runs and attachments included in the deal.
One of my friends sells refurbished tractors with one attachment for $750. I guess these are worth the money depending on your mechanical abilities.
If it runs good when you buy it and you do regular maintenance it should run a very long time. The last one I bought was a '63 LI with 30" mower and a sickle mower. It didn't run but I cleaned the points and changed the oil and it is my best running tractor. I gave $300 for it. Any questions email me or post again.
