I posted a question earlier that nobody answered, so let me rephrase it and try again. On the newer garden tractors with the foot pedals for forward and reverse, IS THERE ANY WAY TO INCREASE THE GROUND SPEED WHILE IN REVERSE? They all seem incredibly slow in reverse.

I don't know whether or not your tractor can be modified but if it were me I would be checkin' out the linkage travel real closely. My older Fords (made by Jacobsen) back up as fast as they go forward and this is a real time saver while mowing and plowing snow.

I have had one dealer (J-D) and one garden tractor mechanic say that it COULD be done, but they wouldn't share how. I am still looking!!

I do not think much can be done. The trans was designed to run slower in reverse to reduce backing accidents. The is the same reason the on newer mowers there is a safety switch that kills the engine or declutches the mower deck when backing up.
