Hello, I have a Massey Ferguson 1655 with a hydro transmission. It's really a fantastic machine. I want to change the tranny fluid. According to my manual it has a Sunstrand inline hydrostatic model HT 90 and the transaxle is a Peerless No. 2514 2 speed. The manual says to use M-1110 auto transmission fluid--I'm don't know what that is. I'm hoping I can just use regular Hy-tran fluid in it. I have a lot of that around. Does anyone knoe what I should put in this transmission?
Thanks much!!
Marc

Tranny fluid. BE careful. I have a Cub and a JD. Both dealers told me not to mix fluids...Use JD fluid for the JD and CUB IH fluid in the Cub. and they were serious about it, and not just trying to sell their own brand.

I use JD Hy-Gard in everything and it works well.

As long you are not going to really use thing hard, you can use a lot of diffeant oils. Toro/Wheel Horse recommends 10W30, IH says to us Hy-Tran, John Deere says to use Lo-Vis Hi Guard. Some said to use Ford ATF. M-1110 is probably a Massey Ferguson version of Hy-tran or HY-Guard. All you really need is a GOOD hi quality oil for flow to make the tractor move and run hydraulics and then to cool the whole hydraulic system.

I use Dextron in my Wards tractor with hydrostatic
drive and hydraulic lift. I bought it new in 1971. Hal

I like your plow. Tell me more. I have a Cub Cadet that I rigged up a Planet Jr. plow to. Works fine. I tried to put on a rolling cutter(coulter), but that didn't allow it to go into the ground. I see you dont havae a cutter either. Just interested. (Planer Jr. is the old style walk-behind garden tractor with the engine out front, big pair of tires, and long wood handles in behind, with numerous attachments.)

I forgot to tell you the that the handle that is
on the plow if for tilting the plow point and it is mounted on that frame and is attached to the sleeve hitch with one pin. If you look at the bracket that holds the plow at the rear. That is bolted to the frame too. By removing these (2) 3/8 cap screws and removing a big safety pin the plow is easily removed except for the depth adjusting handle and is removed from the tractor
by pulling the pin from the sleeve hitch. The plow can be installed in a couple of minutes.
I have a spare plow point too. Hal
PS: I used this tractor and plow when I grew a lot of potatoes. I made the furrows for the potatoes and I used it for plowing them out when the vines were dead in late summer. Should've had a potato digger back then.

I had an old Viking walk behind garden tractor that I bought in 1960. It came with a moldboard plow, culivators and disk harrow. I kept the plow
and made a frame that replicated the part of the handles where the implements were attached. I had tried different versions on the hookup and none worked until I did this.

It never had a rolling coulter when I got the plow. I made one to fit from an old plow by having the coulter diameter reduced from 18 inches
to around 12 inches with a cutting torch. I only used the plow with the coulter several times and it laid in my mini-barn for years so I got rid of it. That plow is quite heavy and with the coulter
it just added more weight. The plow does a fine job plowing and all I have is a cover crop of barley on the garden. The coulter would have been good on sod. Hal

I use Dextron in my Sunstrand on my JD 140. Deere origionally called for Ford ATF, if my memory serves me.

And ask them for dexron, not dexTron. Leave that "T" out.
